El Paso is located at the westernmost tip of Texas, bordering both New Mexico and Old Mexico. It is located midway between the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. It is the fifth largest city in the state of Texas.

Our sister city, Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico is separated from El Paso by the Rio Grande river. It is the fourth largest city in Mexico and the undisputed economic center of northern Mexico. As three states and two nations merge and create a population of over 2 million residents, together, El Paso and Juárez form the largest metropolitan area on the border between the United States and Mexico.

El Paso is a jewel in the desert. Nestled between the rugged Franklin Mountains and the historic Rio Grande, this dynamic border community combines the advantages of a major metropolitan center with the ambience and neighborly charm of a modern western town.

El Paso is also a major transportation hub, located on the Interstate 10 corridor on the southern border of the United States. Our city offers state-of-the-art educational and medical facilities, abundant cultural and entertainment opportunities, year-round sports and outdoor recreation, some of the best weather conditions on the planet, and an extremely favorable cost-of-living index.

El Paso is also distinguished by it's recent ranking as the second safest city in the United States . We are a cosmopolitan community; seven in ten El Pasoans are bilingual in English and Spanish, and people from all over the world come here to live, work, do business, get an education, or retire.

The area can justifiably be called the “Old West” and at the same time the “New Frontier”. With over 430 years of “old tradition” merging with new exciting economic development, one must visit and invest in the “Best of the West”.
